RAISING CHILDREN TO BE TRUTHFUL, HONEST, AND FAIR

Lying, cheating, and just being mean to others are challenges that many parents have to grapple with when raising kids. Joy Kids Universe believes that’s why it’s important to teach children to tell the truth, and to be honest and fair to everyone. Here are some helpful tips.

  • Monkey see, monkey do – More than anything else, set a good example. Children idolize their parents. They will learn to be truthful, honest, and fair only if they see their parents doing the same thing.
  • Make it easy – Create an atmosphere in the home which makes it comfortable for the child to tell the truth, even if he or she has done something wrong. Love your children without judgement. Don’t try to force a confession, if you feel the child is lying.
  • Get to the bottom of it – Find out why the child finds it necessary to tell a lie. It sometimes comes from a distorted sense of what’s acceptable and not acceptable.
  • Explain it early – Start when the child is 3 or 4 years old and explain what honesty and fairness are all about. Give them the opportunity to learn freely and joyfully each day just as Casey Rose and the Joybug do.Use stories and examples. Sports and games are other good opportunities to explain and demonstrate the concepts of honesty and fair play.

Beat The Blues With Happy Thoughts

A child’s world is fraught with disappointments, frustrations, and confused moments. These, in turn, can cause stress in a child. As a parent, it’s important to explain to a child how to deal with these situations and help reduce their stress.

One way to do this is to talk to the child, and find out what’s causing the stress. If the immediate cause of the stress can be addressed, then that should do the trick. Otherwise, it’s important to tell the child that putting a positive spin on things can assist in solving the problem. Explain to the child that, by looking at the sad situation in a positive and loving way, they can let go of their bad feelings, and replace them with happy ones.

Teach the child not to dwell on sad thoughts, and to substitute them with pleasant ones. Teach the child to think about moments that brought pleasure, whenever unpleasant situations enter their lives. Explain techniques that will help them overcome their anxious feelings such as engaging fun activities, reading happy stories, talking about good experiences. Tell them that it’s really up to them whether they want to stay sad or be happy and encourage them to choose to be happy, just as the Joybug finds joy in everything. Creating Positive Energy In Your Home

To bring positive energy into your home, you need to get rid of the negative energy that is there. To make room for positive energy, or “Chi”, here are some joyful tips from Joy Kids Universe.

  • Get rid of the clutter to promote positive and happy emotions. Stuff you don’t need, and things made of toxic materials create negative energy. Throw away or donate old newspapers and magazines. Don’t leave dirty clothes and dishes lying around for negative energy to stick to.
  • Clean up to live carefree and harmoniously. Whenever you clean your home, you are bringing positive energy into the space. This includes walls, windows, curtains, carpets and furniture. Organize things and put everything in its proper place.
  • Let the fresh air in to create joyful feelings everyday. Open your windows and let fresh air flow throughout the house. However, if you live in a highly-polluted area, find a way to get good ventilation without letting polluted air into the house.
  • Move furniture around. Rearranging furniture disrupts the flow of negative energy. Keep wide, open spaces between pieces of furniture to disperse negative energy.
  • Practice daily meditation. Set aside a space in your home where you can meditate every day. Meditation, when practiced well and regularly, radiates strong positive energy throughout the home and counters any negative energy present.
  • Liven up the place. Put plants to add life and color to your home. Some Feng Shui practices include putting bowls of sea salt in open spaces, and lighting incense or scented candles in the rooms.
